Specialization: Conservation of medicinal and aromatic plants. Biosystematic/Taxonomic characterization Production of quality planting materials and its popularization. Systematics of Zingiberaceae.
Discovered 7 new plant species and published the data in international journals. Research Guide in Kerala University and Kannur University. Publications: 90 research papers, 8 popular books, 6 booklets, 23 chapters in books/proceedings. Produced 9 Ph.Ds. Supervising 3 Ph. D works. Actively involved in developing and maintaining germplasm collection of medicinal and aromatic plants in JNTBGRI for the last 35 years. Recipient of sponsorship from British Council to undergo internship at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, UK (1995). Visited Botanic Gardens at Isle of Wight, Singapore, China and Thailand also. Recipient of Prof. T. R. Sahu Award (2002) and Dr. P D Sethi Award (2010).
