Qualification: Ph.D., H.N.B. Garhwal University, Uttarakhand (2012).
Specialization: Conservation assessment, seed storage, seed germination and dormancy, seedling production, translocation.
I contribute to the conservation of threatened plants by working with IUCN Global Tree Specialist Group to improve IUCN Red List assessments. Seed collection and storage is a regular activity in our seed bank. I do focus on to identify seed dormancy and develop germination protocols for threatened plants. This enables us to produce seedlings for translocating rare species in the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the eight ‘Hottest Hot-Spots’ of biological diversity in the world. I am also adopting species distribution modeling and cryopreservation for long term conservation of rare plants.
