Jasmines are among the high valued ornamentals. Though there are native species, only a few are being cultivated. The Garden has developed a germplasm collection of various jasmines found in Western Ghats. 45 species of jasmines, both wild and cultivated are grown in this germplasm collection. Breeding programmes in this group is also being done. A new variegated mutant of Jasminum ritchiei C. B. Clarke was developed and registered during 2007.
